Tigers come from behind to continue good form
Date: 12/06/2007
Mildenhall claimed a dramatic victory at home to Stoke Potters on Sunday, winning 49-44 after being 12pts down at half way.
Ben Barker, a regular visitor to West Row over the last few seasons along with former-Fen Tigers Barrie Evans and Lee Smart were all on good form early on picking up victories as the Potters raced to a 17-7 lead after just 4 heats.
Kyle Legault was sent out on a tactical ride (after a first ride duck) and went on to produce 3 further wins in a 15pt haul. On a slick track, Shaun struggled along with new signing Paul Fry and reserve Mark Thompson and managed just 2+1 points, his lowest home score of the season.
As the meeting drew towards its conclusion, Mildenhall were 3 points down with three races left but two fantastic 5-1s from Legault and Jason King followed by Legault and Tom P Madsen in the last heat decider brought home the two match points as well as the aggregate bonus point.
The evening before Mildenhall tasted defeat at Workington with Madsen and Legault impressing and Tace scoring a respectable 5+2pts on a return to one of his former tracks.

Solid start to April

The Fen Tigers continued their good home form with a Saturday (7th) afternoon win over Newport Wasps and then going down by just 8pts, 49-41 at Queensway Meadows taking the bonus point. But Saturday's meeting was unfortunately marred by a horrific accident to Mildenhall's Jamie Smith.
Smith was challenging Newport's Nick Simmons going into Lap 4 of Heat 14 when the two locked together and flew, full speed into the safety fence. Smith was catapulted up and was thrown, like a ragdoll, ten feet in the air and landed on the Mildenhall greyhound track.
After lengthy treatment the decision was taken by promoters Mick Horton and Tim Stone to abandon the meeting and Smith was eventually taken to hospital, the result standing at 52-34.
Earlier in the afternoon, supporters were treated to some lively racing with Newport's Phil Morris, a debutant at the West Row circuit, looking particularly impressive. Shaun combined with Mario Jirout to continue their promising partnership and produced 12pts from Heats 1, 6 and 10. Shaun also took victory in Heat 8.
The previous weekend saw a double against arch-rivals Rye House which started with the Rockets taking an impressive 66-23 victory with Mildenhall not able to get out of the gates and failing to produce a single heat victory.
The Sunday return was a totally different encounter which ended in Shaun and Tom P Madsen seeing the Fen Tigers home in a last heat decider for a 45-44 triumph. Shaun produced his best performance of the season so far with paid 11 from 5 rides but it could have been more if he hadn't lifted and lost position in the Heat 15 decider.
Shaun and Tigers off to a winning start
Date: 26/03/2007
Shaun and the Fen Tigers got the season proper off to a winning start at highly rated Somerset on Sunday (25th).
The meeting was neatly poised at the half-way stage with Mildenhall leading 23-19 but a succession of heat advantages including a 5-0 in Heat 13 and 5-1 in Heat 14 saw Mildenhall home comfortably 54-38.
Particularly impressive was Kyle Legault who scored 13pts after a below-par display at Sheffield on Thursday, a track he knows well.
Shaun attributed his sides win partly to the track claiming it was a lot more grippy than the previous week and although Mario Jirout and Mark Thompson were caught out in the early stages, the surface settled down and ultimately played into the home sides hands.
This weekend sees the Fen Tigers face the old enemy Rye House home and away starting with the trip on Hoddesdon on Saturday (31st) evening.

Welcome back to the new look website for Shaun Tacey. To coincide with the start of the season the site has been given a makeover but you will still be able to keep up to date with all the latest news from the Tacey camp.
Shaun and the Mildenhall Fen Tigers kick off their season today with the first of a two-legged challenge against Premier League favourites Sheffield Tigers. The match will have a special significance for Shaun's new teammate Kyle Legault who has moved on loan to Mildenhall after two highly successful years learning his trade for Sheffield. The return leg is on Thursday (22nd) and the Fen Tigers will be looking to get themselves off to a good start with the new look squad.
Shaun started off his own season on Friday night (16th) when he rode in the Ashley Jones Memorial at Kings Lynn scoring 5+1pts from 4 rides.
